2024-2025 Company Members

**Company Agreement**

As members of the GMB Dance Company, we strive to embody kindness, positivity, and an open mind. We appreciate focus, helpfulness, drive, passion, and hard work, as well as respect for our fellow dancers, shared spaces, and each other's belongings.

We value consistent attendance but understand that life is, at times, unpredictable. If a company member must be absent from a rehearsal or performance, we encourage open communication with fellow members and instructors to help manage any missed time. Even injured dancers are warmly invited to join us by observing and staying engaged in class.

We will let GMB know as soon as possible, in writing, about any anticipated absences. If a company member feels unwell, we have the option of remaining engaged in rehearsals virtually through FaceTime or Zoom.

If anyone feels uncomfortable for any reason, we are committed to fostering a safe environment through supportive discussion. In difficult situations, our goal is to seek a resolution together.

In the spirit of teamwork, if an issue arises and we cannot reach a resolution, we agree to kindly put it aside and move forward without holding onto any negative feelings.

GMB members understand that any critiques or feedback from instructors, peers and adjudicators are intended to enhance our understanding of dance technique and performance skills and do not reflect one’s personal worth.

Dance with the GMB Company

The GMB Company aims to give students a deeper understanding of pre-professional dance training and performance as they pursue their art.

The GMB Dance Company, for dancers aged 8 to 18, is a full-season program designed for dancers committed to their practice in preparation for the stage.

GMB Company offers opportunities to learn, perform, and grow through ensemble dance pieces. Additionally, there is the potential for students to work on solo, duo, and small-group choreography.

Dancers are given opportunities to perform in front of others, building confidence and community.

Performance-Focused

The GMB Dance Company focuses on preparing dancers for the stage in any performative setting.

GMB Company is a program designed for students who, in addition to their weekly technique class(es), learn and perform new choreography for various community events throughout the season. Dancers are required to audition to be considered for membership.

Audition requirements

1) Dancers must be able to commit to the listed dates for Company Class in addition to their weekly technique classes and performance opportunities TBA.

2) Dancers wishing to audition for the GMB Company for the 2024/2025 Season must prepare a short statement, submitted in writing or spoken aloud, that answers the question:

β€œWhy do you want to dance with GMB Company?”

3) Dancers must prepare a 30 to 60-second piece of choreography to be performed at the audition. This demonstrates a level of fearlessness and the student’s general development.

Dancers do not require previous dance training to audition.

If dancers want to use music, please provide the specific Spotify or YouTube link. The song's name and artist are OK, but some songs have different versions. Please bring your Bluetooth-compatible audio device if your accompaniment is unavailable on Spotify or YouTube.

GMB Dance hopes everyone who auditions will be selected to join the Company. However, this may not be the case. The primary criteria for selection will be attitude and desire.

If your dancer is not ready to join the Company for the upcoming Season, GMB Dance will notify you privately and be available to discuss the decision.
Dancers and their families must be able to commit to the Class Participating and Behaviour Expectations as described below.

Conditions of Company Membership

Representing GMB Dance

Even though all GMB dancers are held to high expectations regarding dedication and attitude for themselves, their classmates, and teachers, GMB Company members represent the entire school on public platforms and, therefore, must exemplify these Conditions to remain members:

Behaviour Expectations

It is of utmost importance that the dancers representing GMB Company on public platforms uphold the values of respect towards others and themselves. Their behaviour should serve as an exemplary model for others to follow.

Everyone has bad days, and students are encouraged to speak freely about their feelings, but if a dancer continually exhibits intent to distract or harm others or takes pleasure in derailing the class, GMB Dance must address it with the Primary Contact and the student.

GMB Dance follows the K.A.R.E Guidelines:

Kindness - Try your best and allow others the same opportunity.

Attitude - Use a positive attitude to see faster and more lasting results.

Respect - Listen carefully and care for the space and each other.
