Behaviour Expectations and Protocol
Behaviour Expectations
Respect for Others
Aggression or any form of bullying will not be tolerated. Examples include:
Unwanted and/or harmful physical touch, including hitting, pinching, pushing, wrestling, biting, or intimidation through physical gestures and threatening language.
Focus and Engagement
Continuous disruption of lessons may include:
Talking during instruction, whispering, calling out without raising a hand, making loud noises, using devices, wandering away from the group, and ignoring instructions.
Safety
The safety of ourselves and others is paramount. Putting bodies at risk includes:
Inappropriate running, climbing on walls or equipment, and any actions that may lead to property damage or personal injury.
Behaviour Protocol
All parents, families, and children are unique, and we approach behaviour concerns on a case-by-case basis. Generally, our protocol is as follows:
First Incident: The instructor will give a warning, clearly identifying the behaviour and instructing it to cease.
Follow-Up Discussion: The instructor will pull the student(s) aside to ask about their understanding of the instruction and explore any underlying issues.
Involvement of Family: At the end of class, through email, or at pick-up, the instructor will communicate with the family regarding the behaviour.
Continued Issues: If none of the above steps result in improved behaviour, the student may be instructed to withdraw from a session or the entire season.
We believe a respectful and supportive atmosphere is essential for everyone’s enjoyment and growth in dance. Should any behaviour violate these expectations, we will address it promptly and appropriately.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in creating a safe and positive environment for all our dancers. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.: support@gmbdancer.com
